🇺🇸 The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird is a long-range, high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft developed in the United States by Lockheed Corporation. Built mainly from titanium to withstand extreme heat at very high speeds, it was powered by two Pratt & Whitney J58 engines and capable of flying above Mach 3 at altitudes over 85,000 feet (25,900 meters).
First flown on 22 December 1964, it entered service in 1966 with the United States Air Force and became famous during the Cold War for its exceptional speed, altitude, and ability to evade interception.
