🇬🇧 The Sopwith Triplane is a single-seat British fighter aircraft developed by the Sopwith Aviation Company during World War I in 1916–1917. Designed to improve climb rate and maneuverability in dogfights, it features a distinctive three-wing (triplane) configuration that provides exceptional lift and agility. Powered by a rotary engine, it was used primarily by the Royal Naval Air Service for air superiority missions and proved highly effective in close-range aerial combat, although it was produced in limited numbers and soon replaced by more advanced fighters.
