🇫🇷 The Dewoitine D.520 is a single-engine, single-seat fighter aircraft developed in France by Société nationale des constructions aéronautiques du Midi shortly before the Second World War. Designed for air superiority and interception, it combined good speed, maneuverability, and a 20 mm cannon firing through the propeller hub with machine guns in the wings. However, despite its strong performance, it arrived in service in numbers only shortly before the Battle of France—often described as “too little, too late” to significantly influence the outcome of the campaign.
