Antonov An-72

🇺🇦 The Antonov An-72 is a twin-engine STOL (short takeoff and landing) transport aircraft developed by the Soviet Union’s Antonov Design Bureau in the late 1970s. Designed for operations from short, unprepared, or remote airstrips, it features a high-mounted wing and engines positioned above the wings to take advantage of the Coandă effect, improving low-speed lift performance. Known for its ruggedness and excellent field capability, the An-72 has been used for military transport, cargo delivery, paratroop operations, and Arctic missions, and became a reliable utility aircraft within Soviet and later Russian air forces.
